For us, sustainability is about more than the environment

At JLL, we incorporate sustainability into all aspects of our business. As part of our commitment to create value in a constantly changing world, we hold ourselves accountable for the social, environmental and economic impacts of our operations.

As a leading commercial real estate firm with global operations, we recognize that we have both an opportunity and obligation to drive significant change by 1) minimizing the environmental impact of real estate and 2) enhancing the economic and social benefits of real estate development, investment and occupation.

Within these two pillars, we’ve identified five issues that are most important to our business and the effects it has on the world around us.

Energy and resources

According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency, commercial and residential real estate accounts for 11 percent of greenhouse gas emissions. In addition, large chunks of electricity (33 percent of GHG emissions) and industry (20 percent) outputs fall under the real estate and building operations umbrella. Through the buildings and facilities we manage, and clients we consult on construction and efficient operations, we’re committed to reducing the environmental impact of real estate across the globe.

Client service excellence

Through uncompromising integrity and the highest ethical conduct, we act with professionalism and always deliver the highest caliber of advice—infused with innovative and long-term thinking—to our clients.

Green buildings

Not only are green buildings better for the environment, they also provide healthier and more productive workplaces, and are less costly to operate. That’s why we integrate sustainability in all real estate decisions, and have more LEED-certified professionals than any other company in the world.

Community and supply chain

As a large organization, we can make a significant impact by being a responsible member of our community—both globally and in the specific geographies we serve. We create value through charitable partnerships, giving employees time and opportunities to personally contribute (often with company matches), and working with our employees, vendors and clients to improve the environmental and social impacts of supply chains and procurement practices.
